What a memorable and rewarding ride it’s been for the Trinity Episcopal Titans.
In the VISAA, Division I championship game Saturday, coach Rick Hamlin’s guys dispatched top-ranked Paul VI 95-78 at Virginia State University’s Multi-Purpose Center.
After trailing 17-16 after one quarter, the Titans took a 42-36 lead into halftime, used a 25-14 third quarter to gain control, then fought off an inspired charge by the Panthers to claim their first state title since 1996, when the late Dale Travis was the coach and Hamlin, his protégé, ran the point.
“It’s a great feeling,” Hamlin said as he sat on the bench afterward, holding the winner’s plaque and watching his jubilant players climb a ladder one by one to cut down the net.
“These guys were so focused, so driven. They demanded our best coaching. It was a reciprocal relationship where we demanded their best effort. There was great chemistry between our coaching staff and our players.”
Students Madison Jewett '26 and Anna Rohrs '26 presented Ms. Crouch with her favorite orange roses as a small token of appreciation for the care she shows the Trinity community.
