First Steps on the Titan Trail

“Trail Guide” student leaders and teachers welcome newest Titans to Trinity
New Student Orientation kicked off with spirit and joy on the morning of Monday, August 18, as new students and parents were greeted at the main entrance with festive music, a cheering squad of student leaders and the school mascot to give each new student a welcoming high five.

Head of School Rob Short then officially welcomed the 147 new Titans to Trinity, stating "Remember that we chose you and that you chose Trinity, and that's a really powerful thing," he said. "We like what we see in you. There's a lot of wonderful gifts in this room right now, and we're excited about you."

Calling Trinity a place of "kindness and curiosity," Short also encouraged every student to try new things, from clubs to classes to sports. "The teachers here will help you learn skills that you're going to learn here but you never knew you had," he said. " Always be pursuing new things. You've got what it takes."

Leading the day's activities, 34 student leaders were tapped to serve as "Trail Guides," showing the new students around campus, leading small group activities and icebreakers, and sharing school policies and advice on how to succeed as a Trinity student.

After unboxing their brand new school-issued MacBooks and educational software, the newest Titans enjoyed some social opportunities during a snack break and lunch. After lunch they got the chance to experience a shortened daily schedule, visiting each class and meeting their teachers and other new classmates.

The day concluded with a practice Morning Meeting, where students, teachers and administrators encouraged everyone to get involved in at least one club, try out for a new sport and practice kindness by introducing themselves to other new students.
