Rediscovering Trinity

Reunion class captains play vital role in success of Homecoming Weekend
“Imagine being a Trinity senior and you are thrilled to have a new sidewalk built from E Hall to the Carpenter Gym,” said Clay Black ’85, remembering the walkway construction and how excited all the students were for that modest addition. “It was just the second sidewalk added to our school and the old gym later transformed into our art studio.”

Fast forward to Black’s 30th reunion in 2015 and he was yet again impressed with the new buildings, Morgan Hall, Estes Athletic Center and Perkinson Art Center. Now in 2025 there is a turf field, an ongoing expansion of Morgan Hall and its innovation space and a beautiful PAC lobby and expanded theater. Clay is clearly in awe of Trinity's growth and loves seeing there is a passion amongst Trinity's donors to grow our campus and school offerings to all current and future Titans.

This year, as a reunion class captain, Black joined with co-captains Jill Flora ’85 and Kathy Hundley Jordan ’85 to unite their classmates in anticipation of Trinity's reunion weekend on October 2-4, 2025. They created a Facebook group to find classmates, shared old photographs and memories and even extended the festivities with an additional class gathering Saturday afternoon, following the on-campus festivities at Aycock Stadium. Their class spirit was evident throughout all of the reunion events and several classmates returned to campus for the first time in 40 years.

From organizing class gatherings to rallying classmates, our captains played a pivotal role in bringing alumni back home. Additional captains for the reunion classes included:
  • Rae Nunnally ’90
  • Kate Ray ’00, Lindsey Goodman Baker ’00
  • Morgan Taylor Pilkington ’05, Kathryn Mauck ’05
  • Jack Miller ’10
  • Jack W. Freudenthal ’15, Rimoni L. Dorsey ’15
  • James Nelson ’20, Mollie Schuma ’20, Gabrielle “Gabby” Echard ’20
Thanks to their efforts, alumni enjoyed memorable moments from the happy hour, oyster roast, class reunions and athletic competitions, to the family fun festival, Alumni tailgate and Sustainability Garden rededicated in memory of Page Mauck, former teacher and Trinity parent.

Their dedication helped reconnect former classmates, foster new connections and strengthen lifelong ties to Trinity. We are so grateful for their time, energy and enthusiasm in serving as class captains.

We are already looking to plan next year's festivities and if you would like to serve as a class captain, please reach out to development@trinityes.org.
