Celebrating Retiring Faculty: Wendy Williams

Titan Closet Coordinator
Wendy Williams, Titan Closet coordinator, retired in the spring of 2026 after nearly 20 years on staff.

After several years as a dedicated TPA volunteer, Wendy Williams joined the staff in 2009, where she began growing the school’s spiritwear store from a literal closet in the corner of the Academic Commons to a full-fledged retail outpost in the Estes Athletic Center. Over those years, she was a welcoming host for parent volunteers, students, alumni and Titan fans alike, as well as a cheerful ambassador for the school’s brand.

She combined her previous experience as a buyer for Standard Drug with an innate ability to listen and understand what shoppers would be interested in. Even as trends have changed over years (Legwarmers? Socks? Hawaiian shirts?), she has always been able to pivot while maintaining Trinity’s classic style. The biggest challenge in all those years? “Deciding how much of each size to order,” Wendy says. “I don’t know if I’ve ever gotten it perfectly as far as sizes.”

Perfection aside, her ability to find attractive, stylish and affordable clothing that showcases Trinity’s brand has been instrumental in helping the school raise its profile in the RVA community and beyond.  “When Wendy came, she unified us and she became a protector of the school's logo and look,” said Head of School Rob Short. “We went from a school that had very little gear to basically as much gear as you wanted, whether you are a student, alum or a faculty member. Thanks to Wendy, the Titan Closet has become a real pride point for the school.”

The proud mom of two Trinity alums (Jake ’06 and Sam ’08), Wendy looks forward to gardening, golfing and spending more time with her husband, Mark, and her two sons and their families, including four grandchildren.
