Announcing Next Director of Development: Anne Hurt

Veteran of local nonprofits advances after five years as assistant director
Stepping into the role of director of development beginning July 1, 2019 will be Anne Hurt, who has worked in partnership with Laurie Hedgepeth for the past five years as Trinity’s assistant director of development. Hedgepeth is retiring after a decade of leadership in the role.

A proud graduate of James Madison University, Hurt holds both a master’s in public administration and certificate in nonprofit management from VCU. She has brought significant Richmond-area non-profit experience to Trinity — both from previous positions at St. Joseph’s Villa and the Richmond Ballet as well as her ongoing leadership on the board of the Virginia Association for Fundraising Executives (VAFRE).

“Development at its heart is relationship driven, and Anne has worked over the years to develop strong relationships with all of Trinity’s constituencies — students, parents, grandparents, alumni, trustees and peer organizations,” said Head of School Rob Short.

Whether at the strategic level with the board of trustees or working hands-on with parent and alumni volunteers, Hurt has sought to bring creative and innovative ideas to the development process. She is especially proud of the work she has done to educate students about the role philanthropy plays in giving back to one’s community.

“I have enjoyed getting to know so many alumni, parents, grandparents and Trinity friends over the past five years,” Hurt said. “The generous spirit of Trinity’s community is unlike any other. It can be seen in big and small ways every day on our campus. I am proud to be a part of the Trinity family.”
