Diane Monaco Kick Start for Algebra II

Course Description

This course is designed for students entering any level of Algebra 2/Trig who would like to review and strengthen the critical foundational skills for success in Algebra 2/Trig and beyond.

Students will practice:
  • Operations with real numbers, numerical expressions and algebraic expressions
  • Solving Multi-Step Equations and Inequalities
  • Simplifying radicals
  • Linear functions and their graphs
  • Quadratic functions with a specific focus on successful factoring

    Morning Section:
     • Tuesday, July 13 - Thursday, July 22 (9 – 11:30 a.m.)

    Afternoon Section:
     • Tuesday, July 13 - Thursday, July 22 (12:15 p.m.- 2:45 p.m.)

    * This course only meets on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
  • Grades

    Students must have successfully completed Algebra 1. The class is limited to 20, so students enrolling in Algebra 2/Trig or Honors Algebra 2/Trig in the 21-22 school year will be given priority. If space is available, students enrolling in geometry in 21-22 will be accepted.

About the Instructor

Diane Monaco has been teaching mathematics at Trinity since 2007 and currently teaches Algebra 2/Trig and Honors Algebra 2/Trig. Prior to teaching, Mrs. Monaco spent 18 years in the employee benefits field as an underwriter, a major accounts consultant, and a Chief Learning Officer. She has a B.S. in Education from the University of Virginia, graduated from the Darden Summer Business Institute at University of Virginia, and completed graduate studies at VCU in the MBA program. Mrs. Monaco is a co-sponsor of the Shields in Service Club, the Senior Class, and is on the IB/CAS coordination team.

Topic of the Day: Review of Linear Functions

Lesson 1
Identify forms of linear functions, the slope and the intercepts (20 minutes)
