Allegro! Beginning Strings Camp

Camp Description

“Allegro!” is a beginning course for students interested in starting a stringed instrument. Explore your interest in violin, viola, or cello!  Our daily schedule will include a focus on building a strong foundation with your instrument, posture, bow technique, and tone production. We will progress to learning beginning pieces using open strings and then to playing beginning songs! Also included are daily music theory and reading games and activities, to strengthen your music knowledge and note reading skills. Each week will end with a joyful performance!

About the Instructor

About Kimberly Ryan: Kimberly has been teaching private violin and viola lessons in the Richmond area for over 20 years. She is dedicated to teaching both Suzuki and traditional methods at all levels and ages, tailoring her style to the specific goals of each student and family.  She currently directs both the String Orchestra and Chorus programs at Trinity Episcopal School, as well as serving as Music Director at Southminster Presbyterian Church. As a performer, she regularly plays viola with the Richmond Symphony and has performed with the Virginia Opera Orchestra and many other professional ensembles. Her string quartet, Rosette, has become a popular performing group throughout the Richmond area, hosting creative concerts in unique venues.  Kimberly is the current President-Elect of the Richmond Music Teachers Association.
