Big Shoes to Fill

Students refurbish hundreds of pairs of shoes for area homeless
Throughout the week of November 8-12, Trinity students helped clean, refurbish, label, sort, and bag 400 pairs of shoes for SHOOD. SHOOD is a local non-profit that collects gently used running shoes and reconditions and distributes them to those experiencing homelessness or other challenging circumstances. The students worked together throughout Discovery each day, with students from every grade-level collaborating to maximize efficiency.

Claire Arnold ’23 and Haleigh McPeak ’23 spearheaded the effort as part of their International Baccalaureate Collaborative Service Project. Both felt excited by the strong student and faculty turnout each day. They also appreciate being part of a project that will help so many.  The shoes will be distributed during "The Giving Heart" Community Thanksgiving Feast at the Richmond Convention Center on November 25.

SHOOD is the class of 2025's community partner for this year, although students from all grades were able to participate in the project.
