New Student Leaders Elected

In first student election conducted entirely online, candidates delivered video speeches in Virtual Morning Meeting.
Congratulations to the leaders of the Trinity Student Government Association (SGA) for 2020-2021. In the first student government election conducted entirely online, Trinity students were able to vote for their slate of candidates after hearing video speeches delivered via videoconference at Morning Meeting last week.

The new SGA president will be Jessica Moore ’20. "I believe that a community is only as strong as the individuals within, which is why we need different individuals from different backgrounds to contribute to the whole," Moore said in her speech. "In these times, it's really hard to feel like the strong community that Trinity has always had, but I know in the fall when we all return, we will be stronger than ever."

Daniel Eliasek ’20 was elected vice president. "Over the past couple of weeks, I've come to realize how blessed we truly are to attend such a great school and be a part of such a loving and supportive community," he said. "I want to make sure that next year makes up for it with a fun and action packed year... It is my turn to give back and leave my mark on Trinity."

Calder Sprinkle ’20 was elected secretary after channeling Shakespeare in a speech delivered entirely in Elizabethan English. "Beset thus by foul plague and pestilence, I beseech thee," Sprinkle said. "Take heart, dear friends, shore up thine spirits, and stand thee firm with the green, blue and white blazon we call our own. Onward, Titans!"

Garland Moorman ’20 will be SGA historian. In her speech, she shared fun ideas for documenting the student experience, such as slideshows and the "TESPN" spirit week video series.

In addition to serving as role models for Trinity's spirited, inclusive and well-rounded student community, SGA officers lead Morning Meetings each morning and help plan all-school events. Student government is just one of dozens of leadership opportunities through clubs and activities available to Trinity students. Learn more at trinityes.org/clubs.
