Richmond All-Metro Fall 2019

Titans earn nine spots on the fall 2019 Richmond Times-Dispatch All-Metro teams.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch released its All-Metro teams over the holiday break, recognizing top-performing student athletes from the fall athletic season. The Titans were represented by four football players and five field hockey players, including All-Metro Player of the Year Cori Nichols ’20

“The Titans have won the last five LIS regional titles and collected their first back-to-back VISAA Division I state championships this season. They haven’t lost a game since 2017,” writes Mark Gormus in the Times-Dispatch. “As a defensive midfielder, Nichols helped hold her team’s end of the field as the Titans outscored their opponents 105-6. She had three defensive saves, and contributed offensively with 10 goals and 10 assists. She was often matched against the opponent's best player defensively.”

Joining Nichols on the All-Metro field hockey 1st team are Emerie Loftis ’21, Mollie Schuma ’20, Emily Field ’21 and Genevieve Johnson ’21.

Jeremy Singleton ’20 was named to the football All-Metro 1st team. Additionally, Jalen Smith ’20 earned a 2nd-team All-Metro spot, and Jack Toscano ’22 and Dray Bailey ’20 earned honorable mentions.

These players helped lead Titan Football to a 6-5 overall record and the school’s first trip to the VISAA state semifinals since moving up to Div. 1 in 2016.

About Trinity Athletics:

The Trinity athletics program is geared towards developing the whole person. Coaches work closely with athletes to build character traits like hard work, discipline, respect, cooperation and commitment that will benefit them in sports, academics, and beyond. For each Trinity team, the emphasis is on personal improvement, camaraderie and the value of competition.

Trinity requires all of its students to earn athletic/activity participation credit for a total of six seasons during their Trinity years. Titans can participate by playing for or managing one of 36 teams in 22 sports, from volleyball to swimming, and golf to football.

Trinity is a proud member of the Virginia Preparatory League (boys) and the League of Independent Schools (girls), as well as the Virginia Independent School Athletics Association (VISAA). Trinity Titans consistently win state championships, league titles, sportsmanship awards, and coach of the year awards.

The 50,000-square-foot Estes Athletic Center features two gyms, a strength and fitness center, multiple locker rooms and team meeting rooms, school store, concession stand and alumni rooms for meetings and social events. Trinity’s tennis teams compete at Southampton Recreation Association. The swim teams train and compete in a 50-meter, 8-lane competition pool at SwimRVA.
