The Science of Food

IB Group 4 Projects encourage independent exploration with original experiments
In mid-November, groups of students in IB science classes created and conducted experiments for their “Group 4 Projects,” a collaborative, project-based touchstone of the IB curriculum. Each team conducted an original experiment inspired by this year’s chosen theme, “food.”

One group dried to determine whether color affects taste using food coloring. Another tested how various foods block radiation. Another tested the effect of sugar content on energy output.

Through projects like these, Trinity students make connections across academic disciplines and become independent learners and critical thinkers.

Students pursuing the IB Diploma Programme are required to study at least one subject from IB's group 4 (e.g. biology, computer science, chemistry, design technology, physics, sports, exercise and health science).
