Saturday, August 31 marked the 10th year of partnership between Special Olympics and Trinity
Over the weekend, Trinity hosted the Special Olympics of Virginia (SOVA) One-Miler race for the 10th year in a row. Each year the boys and girls cross country teams train with the SOVA athletes during the weeks leading up to the race.
On race day, Saturday, August 31, Trinity cross country runners ran alongside the SOVA athletes while members of the field hockey team cheered the runners on with signs made for each and every participant.
“Having your TES athletes and their coaches share their time and energy with us, and their compassion, means so much to all of us,” said volunteer SOVA coach Michelle Stevens. “The athletes had a wonderful time and they felt really celebrated, and it was because of the amazing support they have received from [Trinity’s] school community.”
