Freshman is Top State Golfer

Garrett Kuhla ’22 named VISAA player of the year.
This spring, freshman Garrett Kuhla ’22  was named VISAA golf player of the year. The award is determined by the player with best cumulative scoring average over the season.

Varsity golf coach Becky Currier noted that Kuhla’s consistent play has made him a player to watch as he continues his golf career. “Garrett possesses a focus and drive on the golf course. He practices with a purpose and prepares for each match,” Currier said. “[He] constantly seeks ways to improve.”

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported, “Kuhla, in the last player rankings released, on May 6, had a Division I-best 1.182 handicap. He went on to lead Trinity Episcopal at the VISAA golf championship earlier this week at the Williamsburg Golf Club’s Yorktown Course, finishing tied for eighth. He shot a 2-over 74.”

“He is a respectful, quiet leader who sets a great example for the team,” Currier said of Kuhla a teammate. “He is polite and thoughtful, has a strong work ethic and is a solid gentleman of the game.”
