Welcome to Connections, a regular online column, where I have the privilege of sharing stories of Trinity students, alumni, and faculty and staff who are carrying our mission beyond the boundaries of campus. Many of these stories might not make the headlines, but they will illustrate how every member of the Trinity community has a unique path to discover, and the ability to make an impact on both the Trinity community and the world beyond.
The Trinity community is made of a unique blend of students from dozens of different neighborhoods all over the Richmond area. This diversity inherently connects us to the broader community while we build our values as Titans here on campus. Throughout growth and change, the constant that remains is our mission to guide and support all of our community members as they discover their path.
I am fortunate to have been a part of this community since my own adolescence. I have been a student, a teacher, a coach, and an administrator, and in these roles I have witnessed the school’s growth and evolution through the years. We have grown in size as well as spirit.
I have watched our facilities develop into beautiful spaces to support students’ pursuit of their passions. What was once the Carpenter gymnasium is now the Perkinson Arts Center, brimming with world-class artistic creativity. The Estes Athletic Center supports students, faculty, and alumni in their physical pursuits as well as providing space for presentations, special events, and collaborative projects.
I have seen our faculty and staff continue to commit themselves to enhancing student growth as lifelong learners as they themselves are always learning. I have seen our students develop their talents and explore their passions while creating an environment of unparalleled school spirit.
Now, as Head of Community Engagement, I am thrilled to use this space to share stories that offer a window into our community.
Stories here will capture how seeds planted at Trinity have taken root and flourished into full-grown passions. You’ll also read stories of those in our community who bring their gifts from outside to help us learn. At Trinity, we seek to develop lifelong learners, and stories here will illustrate real-life examples of that beautiful symbiosis.
Thank you for being interested in our Trinity community, one that is is strengthened by each of its members. It is an honor to share this space with you, and I look forward to our journey.
