Welcome New Families

July 3 Status Update on Campus Reopening

Earlier this week, the state of Virginia officially entered Phase Three of its reopening plan, which gradually permits in-person instruction to resume while prioritizing the health and safety of students and staff. Although our campus remains closed for the time being, we are planning to initiate a limited reopening for summer activities (including voluntary strength and conditioning workouts) on Monday, July 13. Coaches and summer instructors are now receiving training on how to maintain all of the safety measures required under the state of Virginia’s Phase Three guidelines. All July summer activities will take place out of doors, and anyone entering a building on campus must wear a mask. Specific details and procedures for participating in on-campus workouts will be sent in a separate email and posted to our website next week.

At the same time, our Reopening School Task Force is hard at work establishing the necessary logistics and frameworks for reopening school in August. We expect to release important components of this plan, which will include a modified daily schedule, as early as Friday, July 10. Over the next several days, as we work to establish what opening in August will look like, the task force remains focused on these guiding principles:
  • Student, faculty, staff safety is paramount
  • Have students on campus as much as possible within what Phase Three allows
  • Ensure continuity of learning for students regardless of location
  • Minimize schedule variation for ease of class coverage
  • Support faculty by simplifying the schedule, maintaining planning periods, and provide guidance for the highest quality delivery of curriculum
  • Recognize issues parents may face (work, family, transportation)
  • Honor our mission at all times
One of the key tenets of Trinity's mission is to build and maintain a “dynamic academic community.” We remain committed to honoring that mission, while putting the safety of every community member at the forefront. This will present a unique challenge for our school, however the creativity, dedication and attention to detail I have already seen from our Reopening School Task Force shows that we will be well equipped to meet it.  Returning to normal operations will be a long and gradual process, and we will need the continued cooperation and adaptability of the entire community to succeed.
