2020 Presentation of Diplomas: Details for June 20 event

Trinity is excited and proud to celebrate the class of 2020 with an on-campus Presentation of Diplomas ceremony on Saturday, June 20. Because we will still be unable to gather in large numbers at this time, the ceremony will be conducted outdoors in several shifts, with groups of families parading by car through campus at designated times. Our goal is to fulfill our commitment to be on campus, confer diplomas, have a “walk across the stage,” and allow families to celebrate this special event.

Please note your families designated time slot based on last name:

* For the safety of all, out of respect for our neighbors and in order to keep the ceremony running on time, please do not arrive early!

Seniors will “process” in a car parade in groups of approximately 25 in assigned time slots throughout the day based on last name. To assist us in announcing names and conferring diplomas, we ask that you write the last name of your graduate in bold black letters on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and place this in the windshield on the passenger side.

At the beginning of the designated time, cars (one car per graduate) will enter the senior lot and form a single line alongside the curb at the right of the senior lot. The first five cars will process to the staging area near the concession stand, drop off the members in the car and will be directed to park in a designated area. The driver will join the senior and family in one of five staging areas that approach the stage where diplomas will be conferred (tents will be marked clearly).

As the family gets to the stage, the graduate’s name will be called and the student will walk across the stage set up in front of the concession stand. A photographer will take 2 to 3 pictures, including a family picture, and the family will proceed back to their car and exit the parking lot.

At any given time, there will only be five families outside of their cars in the staging areas. Social distancing will be observed to protect the health of faculty, staff, and families.

Tips for a successful day:
  • We invite you to decorate your car in celebration of the graduates.
  • Limit total passengers in your car to 7 (six plus the graduate).
  • Wear your cap and gown.
  • Dress comfortably.
  • Bring water.
  • Please remember to place name card in windshield on passenger side.
  • Enjoy your moment — the pictures are on us! Digital copies of photographs taken by our professional photographer will be provided to each graduate.
If you have any additional questions, please contact Brian Phillips, head of campus life, at bphillips@trinityes.org.

We look forward to celebrating with you on Saturday, June 20!
