[excerpted details below]

Based on current information about the timeline for safe summer gatherings, and a sincere desire to have as many graduates as possible celebrate on campus before the summer ends, we have made the decision to move our on-campus ceremony to June 20 (with a rain date of June 21). Because we will still be unable to gather in large numbers at this time, the ceremony will be conducted outdoors in several shifts, with groups of families parading by car through campus at designated times.

As each student's name is called they will come onstage to receive their diploma after which there will be an opportunity for photographs with family. A photographer will also be on hand to document the event. Each family may bring one vehicle with the graduate and up to six guests (seven people total per vehicle). We encourage you to decorate your car prior to arrival to add to the spirit of the event and the sense of celebration of the class of 2020.

Our goal is to fulfill our commitment to be on campus, confer diplomas, have a “walk across the stage,” and allow families to celebrate this special event. We also must make every effort to comply with safety regulations for the City of Richmond and for schools specifically, and we need to do everything we can to keep our entire community safe. To this end, we will be following strict social-distancing guidelines to maintain the safety of each family and our staff. However, if any graduate does not feel comfortable walking on campus, they may receive their diploma in their vehicle while in the parade line.

Please look for additional celebration logistics — including specific time slots for families and campus entry/exit instructions — during the first week of June.
