A Message From the Chaplain: "Keeping the ‘Episcopal’ in Trinity Episcopal School During Distance Learning"

Brian Griffen, School Chaplain
My goal as chaplain during this time of distance learning will be to encourage our community to rely on our Epsicopal identity in the days ahead.  In continuing with our daily sacred time, I will provide daily prayers and readings at our virtual morning meetings. On days four and eight, I will be hosting Five Minute Chapel from 3:00-3:05 p.m. where I will lead us in a devotional series throughout the Season of Lent entitled “Fragile - Handle With Care.” Faculty and students will be able to attend via RingCentral. Likewise, I encourage you to visit episcopalchurch.org/habits-of-grace to be encouraged in your faith by our Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry.

As I shared at the beginning of the school year, Trinity observes sacred times daily at Morning Meeting, Mondays at Chapel — and when they spontaneously occur in a classroom, locker room, or in a hallway between two colleagues. Remember that you as faculty and students have the ability to carve out sacred spaces through RingCentral. You can pray for another and set aside time to listen to one another.

In trying times such as this one, it is important that Trinity leans on our Epsicopal identity. It is important that we continue to carve out sacred times to rely on God and on one another. Please consider this simple yet powerful prayer from the Book of Common Prayer that sums up what it means to trust in God during times of uncertainty. I offer this prayer on behalf of our Trinity family.

For those we Love
Almighty God, we entrust all who are dear to us to your
never-failing care and love, for this life and the life to come,
knowing that you are doing for them better things than we
can desire or pray for; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Grace and Peace,
Brian A. Griffen
