A Few Poems from LAVA to You

Scientific Beauty
by, Laura Peters

(inspired by Dr. Bill Snead)

The wind whips my face
Like at the river
When you showed us
The minimal beauty of nature
And hoped we would appreciate it
I love it
Although the eventual outcome
Is terrifying
At the river
I feel the surrounding nature
In which your lessons reside

Yellow
By, Hannah Miller

Into her secret place she fled,
The shouting faded to a blur.
She  pulled the quiet around her head,
Then her brush, impatient, began to stir.
With ease, she joined it like a friend.
With trust, she watched it paint a dot-
A dawning yellow dividend
Of yearnings saved, but long forgot.
Empowered by its growing light,
She found a freedom from her fear,
And painted passions through the night
To songs nobody else could hear.
And all her cares she soon forgot.
It started with a yellow dot.
Incomplete
By, Alexandra Bozoghlian

Tainted by misfortunes
that linger
Hindering dreams unable to blossom
Left behind to be tangled in your webs of power
lines
Leaving my soul electrified
I plunge into the rapids of cranberry and crimson
Realizing that I will never be the epitome of
perfection
Intuition whispers
I could reiterate the past
Put the pieces of my life into numerical order.

Untitled
By, Paige Harland

Words are only heard in silence
but spoken in the fray;
They're piled on amid confusion
but quietly are weighed.

Soon we will go to the Stoney Point Mall to play on the giant chess board they have there for their patrons to enjoy.
