We
have courses in theatre tech. We have sculpture, ceramics, organic chemistry,
astronomy and so many others. Our faculty enjoy the variety provided by our elective
courses as well as the challenge we provide in being part of the IB World School
Community. Trinity has established itself over the last thirty years in the global
community via the IB World School network.
Curriculum Descriptions
Trinity's curriculum has 90 courses including 12 Advanced Placement offerings
and a full International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. The school is on the semester
system with the first semester concluding on the last day of exams, December 19,
2003.
Graduation Requirements
Twenty-five credits to be earned in grades 8-12, 23 credits in grades 9-12 English (5 credits)
All students are required to take English each year.Religion (1/2 credit)
One semester course in religion is required for graduation.Mathematics (4 credits)
Four years of math are required in grades 9-12.Word Processing or Computer Skills (1/2 credit)
One semester course or equivalent skill is required.Science (4 credits)
Students must take three laboratory sciences, including biology and chemistry.Fine Arts (1 credit)
Students take two semesters or one year in art, drama or music.Foreign Language (3 credits)
Three years of one foreign language are required for graduation.Electives (2 credits)
All courses beyond the minimum graduation requirements are considered elective credits. Yearlong and semester classes designated as elective courses are intended to supplement a student's core program.Social studies (5 credits)
To include Geography for 8th grade, World History, U.S. History, either 20th Century or Modern European History (IB I), and either U.S. Government/Economics or Comparative Government (IB II).Physical Education
Students are required to participate in a sport for two out of three sports seasons each year during the 8th, 9th and 10th grades and 1 season in the 11th and 12th grades.Community Service/Junior Work Week
Successful completion of community service and career study during Junior Work Week required for graduation.Health (1/2 credit)

Scope of Offerings
English: regular sequence as well as English 9, 10 and 11 Honors and English 12 AP/IB. Electives include yearbook, Creative Writing, Theory of Knowledge, and Journalism
Math: regular sequence through Calculus AP/IB, AP Statistics and IB Math Studies. Electives include Keyboarding/Introduction to Computers, Multimedia Presentations, Advanced Multimedia, Programming in C++, Programming in Visual Basic, Programming for the Web, CAD and Computer Animation, Web and Graphic Design, Desktop Publishing and Computer Internships.
Science: regular sequence through Chemistry/Biology Honors, Biology AP/IB, Chemistry AP/IB, Physics AP/IB and IB Environmental Systems. Electives include Advanced Earth Science, Laboratory Internships, Human Biology and Organic Chemistry
Social Studies: regular sequence through U. S. Government AP. Electives include Modern European History AP/IB, Geography IB, Religion (Old and New Testament and World Religions), James River Course, American History in Film, Western Heritage, Applied Economics, and Personal Finance
Foreign Languages: five years of French, German and Spanish are offered, including honors and AP/IB courses. Latin 1 and Latin 2 are also offered this year
Fine Arts: Electives include Art, Drama, Music (both instrumental and choral), Ceramics, Sculpture and Photography. Art AP/IB and Music IB are also offered. Electives are offered in Theatrical Design and Technology, Music Theory, and Guitar
More than 100 different courses are offered.
AP Courses are College Board Advanced Placement courses.
IB Courses are International Baccalaureate courses.
