National Honor Society Guidelines at Trinity Episcopal School
The
National Honor Society recognizes those students who possess
outstanding qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, and
service. The selection process begins during the second semester.
Students do not apply for membership in the Society but must meet
general qualifications and then fill out a Student Activity Report
to support their candidacy. All aspects of the individual
student are evaluated. A faculty committee will then meet to
select those students it deems most completely satisfy the following
requirements.

1. Is in grade 11 or 12 and has been at Trinity for at least 1 year.
2. Has had no honor or student conduct offenses after 1st semester of sophomore year; for entry in senior
year, must demonstrate consistent academic and social maturity.
3. Has a minimum of a 3.7 GPA.
4. Has an exemplary attendance record.
Scholarship - The student:
1. Demonstrates intellectual curiousity both in and out of the classroom.
2. Perseveres and puts forth effort in search of knowledge.
Leadership - The student:
1. Demonstrates initiative in academics, arts, athletics, and school life.
2. Upholds school ideals.
3. Works well with others and can take on difficult tasks as well as delegate responsibilities.
Character - The student:
1. Demonstrates the highest standards of honesty and reliability.
2. Shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others.
3. Takes criticism willingly and accepts recommendations graciously.
4. Exhibits qualities of dependability, resourcefulness, and integrity.
5. Is an all around good citizen.
Service - The student:
1. Substantially exceeds community service requirements by February 1st.
2. Enthusiastically renders any requested service to the school.
3. Helps faculty, other students, and visitors in a courteous manner.
Membership
in the National Honor Society has become recognized as one of the
highest honors that may be bestowed upon a high school student.
Members of NHS must maintain at least a 3.6 GPA and have an
exemplary attendance record. A member of NHS who is convicted of
an honor or conduct offense can lose membership. If a student is
found to have violated the standards of the society, an academic
committee, formed in accordance with the rules of the NHS, will meet to
decide if the student should be reprimanded or dismissed from the
Society.
