This course satisfies the requirements of  US National and European Standards  for 3rd year students of German.  It further develops the  skills of speaking, listening, writing, and reading learned in German I and II.   The class will be taught mainly in German and the students will participate in interactive activities aimed at enhancing their language skills.

The format of this class is often interactive.  Respect, courtesy, and acceptance of each other are all important to help create an atmosphere where students feel comfortable participating on their level.  Priority is placed on student participation and students are expected to take an active role in their own learning

 Textbook, Arbeitsbuch with CD and Intensivtrainer
*1” ringbinder with college ruled paper and 5 index tabs.


Evaluation: Classroom participation: 25%
Homework: 25%
Quizzes and test: 50%

(Exams count ¼ of the semester grade)

All materials must be brought to class every day and count as part of the classroom participation grade.

While smaller quizzes may be given on any day of the week, tests are limited to Mondays or Thursdays.

Homework in the workbook will earn 100% if done on time and 0% if late
Other assignments will have 10 points deducted for each day they are late.
Excused absences will not affect the grade.  Homework should be turned in as soon as possible after an excused absence.
